DNR OPENS NEW BOATING ACCESS SITE ON LAKE ST. CLAIR

LANSING--Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials today announced the opening of a new boating access site at L'Anse Creuse Bay on Lake St. Clair near Mount Clemens. The new Clinton River Cutoff Boating Access Site will have

three skid piers capable of launching boats up to 35 feet in length into the freshly dredged channel. A modern restroom facility also will be available next spring for the convenience of launch ramp users.

"Southeast Michigan was in need of better access to the substantial boating and fishing waters provided by Lake St. Clair, and this launch fulfills part of that need for boaters," said Rodney Stokes, DNR Parks and Recreation Bureau Chief.

Lake St. Clair offers anglers an abundance of fishing opportunities, including walleye, northern pike, muskie, smallmouth and largemouth bass, yellow perch, and other species. To get to the launch site, take I-94 to exit 236 (MetroBeach Highway) and go to Crocker Blvd. Turn right and go to Jefferson. Turn right (south) and go about two miles to the access site on the left. Admittance to the launch will cost $4 for a daily pass, or $24 for an annual pass.
